Maui’s only Zero Waste take-out option for restaurants!
How it Works
1. Buy your container
When you get takeout food at a participating Hui Zero restaurant, you will have the option to receive it in a Hui Zero reusable stainless steel tin.
PRICE: Each takeout tin requires a $10 deposit that will be refunded by any participating restaurant in cash or credited towards your next meal when you return the tin(s).
2. Return your container
NO CLEANING NEEDED: When returning the tins you don’t need to clean them.
Every tin is washed and sanitized at the participating restaurant.
NO RECEIPT REQUIRED: You don’t need a receipt to return the tins and redeem the cash deposit exchange for your next meal.
Return Exemptions
There are some food establishments such as food trucks that also offer Hui Zero containers, however, due to limits in their dishwashing capacity, may not accept returns. You can return your Hui Zero tins at any other participating restaurant for your refund or meal voucher.

Values & Mission
Our mission is to replace disposable containers with reusable tins to protect Hawaii’s nature from any contaminating disposable containers whether they are made from petroleum or plant-based plastic.
Why it matters
Most of the time even "compostable" containers just end up in the landfill. While paper or cardboard containers with no plastic liner can be composted in a backyard compost, "bioplastics" will only break down in an industrial composting facility which Maui does not have.
